About PetCostHub

PetCostHub is an independent cost estimator for pet insurance in the United States. We help pet owners answer a simple question that is surprisingly hard to find a clear answer to: how much is pet insurance likely to cost for my pet, where I live?

Most insurer websites only show a price after you enter your email, your pet’s details, and sometimes your phone number. Most articles give a single national average, which is not very useful if you own a French Bulldog in California or a mixed-breed cat in Ohio. Premiums vary a lot by breed, by state, and by age. We built this site to show those differences in one place, without a sales pitch.

Why We Built This Site

When we looked for breed-by-state cost information ourselves, we found two kinds of results: a single average repeated across dozens of sites, and quote forms that required personal information before showing any number at all.

Neither helps you budget or compare. Pet owners deserve a starting point they can check in seconds, with no sign-up and no obligation. That is what PetCostHub provides: modeled estimates based on published industry data, organized by breed, state, and age band, so you can see a realistic range before you ever talk to an insurer.

How Our Estimates Are Produced

We start with published national averages for accident and illness coverage, including figures released by the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA). We then adjust those anchors using breed-level cost information published by carriers and industry studies, state and regional differences in veterinary costs, and age-band adjustments that reflect how premiums typically rise as pets get older.

The result is an estimate, not a quote. It is meant to help you plan and compare, not to predict the exact price any one company will charge. Read the full breakdown of our formula, sources, and limits on our Methodology page.

Who Runs PetCostHub

PetCostHub is run by a small, independent team of researchers and pet owners. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or employed by any pet insurance company, brokerage, or agency. No insurer reviews or approves our estimates before we publish them.

We may earn a commission if you visit a provider through a link on this site and later buy a policy, as explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. Those relationships do not change our numbers. Our estimates come from published data and our model, calculated the same way whether or not a provider has an affiliate program.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell insurance policies.
  • We are not an insurer, broker, or agency, and we are not licensed to sell or advise on insurance in any state.
  • We do not provide individual insurance, financial, or veterinary advice.
  • We do not collect your personal information in our estimator, it runs in your browser.

Only a licensed insurer or agent can give you a binding quote, explain policy terms for your situation, and enroll your pet. Compare quotes from more than one provider and read any policy carefully, including waiting periods, exclusions, deductible, and reimbursement terms, before you buy.

If you spot an error, have a question about how an estimate was produced, or want to suggest a breed or topic, please get in touch through our Contact page. We welcome corrections and fix confirmed errors.

Our goal is simple: clearer cost information, presented honestly, so you can make a better decision for your pet and your budget.
