Editorial Policy

Effective date: October 20, 2026

This policy explains how our content and data are produced, our sources, and how we handle errors.

How Our Content and Data Are Produced

Every cost page starts with published data, not opinion. Our team researches national and breed-level figures, applies the model on our Methodology page, and writes in plain language.

Before publication, content is reviewed for factual consistency, clear labeling of estimates, and any statement that could be read as a promise about a real premium.

Our Sources

We rely first on primary and industry sources, including:

  • Industry reports and published averages from the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA).
  • Carrier-published figures, rate examples, and plan information released by insurers themselves.
  • Published studies and datasets on breed health costs and regional veterinary pricing.
  • Official state-level information where it is publicly available.

We do not base estimates on scraped quotes, anecdotes, or a single provider’s marketing claim. Where sources disagree, we favor the broader industry source.

Accuracy Standards

We present costs as ranges and modeled estimates, not exact prices, state our plan assumptions, and avoid guaranteeing savings, approval, or coverage.

Our team produces and reviews content with automated research and drafting tools. Every page is still checked by a team member for accuracy and compliance before it goes live.

No Paid Placements in Our Data

No provider can pay to change an estimate, to be shown as cheaper, or to have a competitor shown as more expensive. Affiliate relationships are handled separately from editorial and data work, as explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labeled and will never be mixed into our estimator data.

Corrections Policy

If you spot an error, tell us through our Contact page. We investigate every report, correct confirmed errors, and update the page. Data corrections take priority.

Update Cadence

We review core cost data at least annually, and sooner when NAPHIA publishes new figures or carriers broadly revise rates.
